PRICING & SCOPE
Website costs, without the guessing.
The starting price is useful. The scope is what really matters. Here's how I think about the cost of a business website, what to allow for after launch and when it's worth spending more.
New websites — from $1,800 AUD
A straightforward business site with clear services, mobile layouts, practical contact options and SEO foundations is the starting point. Price depends on page count, content readiness, custom design, integrations, forms, approval rounds and accessibility needs. The starting figure isn't a fixed quote for any amount of work.
Hosting and upkeep — from $110 per month
Your ongoing plan can cover hosting, routine monitoring and agreed maintenance tasks. Domain renewals, paid plugins, email services, outside subscriptions and significant new features are separate unless expressly included in your proposal. I'll identify the recurring items so you're not surprised later.
One-off work and reporting — $160 per hour
Some jobs don't need a rebuild. You might need an analytics check, a broken form fixed, page speed improved or a new content section. For defined short tasks, hourly work can be more sensible than a full site package.
DIY builder, freelancer or agency?
A DIY builder may suit someone comfortable writing content, setting up domains and maintaining the result. A freelancer is useful when you want one person accountable for decisions and a direct conversation. An agency may make sense when your project involves a broad team, extensive research or complex approvals. None is automatically right for every business.
Questions to ask before agreeing
Who owns the domain and accounts? Who supplies writing and images? What's included in revision rounds? What happens when you need changes later? Which recurring costs are optional? Can you keep your content if you switch provider? A good proposal answers these in plain language.
